How to Get to Soho Farmhouse from London
Drive, train, or door to door. Every way to reach the Great Tew estate.
Soho Farmhouse sits on the Great Tew estate outside Chipping Norton, about 75 miles from central London and a long way from a station. There are three sensible ways to get from London to Soho Farmhouse: drive, take the train to Charlbury and sort a car at the other end, or be driven door to door. This page covers all three. Two of them do not involve us.
Soho Farmhouse Chauffeur Service from London and Heathrow
We are a Windsor chauffeur company and we run this route most weeks, in both directions, for members arriving from London, from Heathrow and off private aircraft at Farnborough and Northolt.
The estate is gated, the approach is a single lane road, and the difference between a driver who has done it before and one who has not shows up in the last mile.
Drive yourself
About 75 miles via the A40 or M40, then north west through Chipping Norton or Enstone.
- Your own timetable
- Friday traffic can stretch it to 2.5 hours
- Someone has to drive back on Sunday
Train to Charlbury
Paddington to Charlbury is a little over an hour on the fastest trains, then 8 miles by road.
- Quick, direct and no changes
- No bus, and few local taxis
- Thinner trains on Sunday evenings
Chauffeur all the way
Collected from your home, hotel or terminal and dropped at reception inside the estate.
- Fixed price, quoted before you travel
- No luggage on trains or platforms
- Return booked on an open date
Where Is Soho Farmhouse?
Soho Farmhouse is in Great Tew, north Oxfordshire. Four miles from Chipping Norton, about 75 miles from central London. The address is Soho Farmhouse, Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, so you will see it listed as Soho Farmhouse Oxfordshire in some places and Soho Farmhouse Chipping Norton in others. Same place.
It is a hundred acres of farmland with cabins spread across it, so arriving is not one point on a map. The gate is on a single lane road through the estate, the drive curves up to The Main Barn, and the cabins and the spa sit further in. If you are driving yourself, put the postcode in and then slow down for the last mile, because the lane is narrow and used by people who live there.
Nearest towns worth knowing: Chipping Norton has the chemist and the supermarket, Charlbury has the station, Woodstock and Blenheim Palace are twenty minutes south, and Burford is fifteen minutes west.

The Nearest Train Station to Soho Farmhouse
The closest train station to Soho Farmhouse is Charlbury, about 8 miles away. Kingham is the next, about 9 miles.
Both sit on the Great Western Cotswold Line out of London Paddington, and both are direct with no changes.
- Paddington to Charlbury is a little over an hour on the fastest trains.
- Paddington to Kingham is a few minutes further on the same line, with a slightly longer road journey at the other end.
- Oxford is about 22 miles out, roughly 35 to 45 minutes by road, and worth it only if you are already there or coming from the north. See our Oxford chauffeur service.
Trains are frequent on weekdays and thinner on Sunday evenings, which is often when members are leaving, so check the last one back before you plan around it.
The last few miles from Charlbury
It is about eight miles from Charlbury to Soho Farmhouse, roughly fifteen minutes by road, and there is no bus. Charlbury is a small station with a handful of local taxis, and on a busy Friday evening they are all in demand at once.
If you are coming by train, it is sensible to arrange the onward car before you travel rather than hoping one is free when you step off, and the same applies on the way out on a Sunday.

London to Soho Farmhouse by Car
The route
Around 75 miles. In clear conditions, about an hour and forty five minutes: west on the A40 or M40 to junction 10 or 11, then north west through Chipping Norton or Enstone. Leave central London after three on a Friday and it becomes closer to two and a half hours, most of it before you even reach the M40.
Once you arrive
There is parking at the farmhouse, but the cabins are spread across a hundred acres and you will not be driving between them once you arrive. If your weekend involves Daylesford, Diddly Squat or dinner somewhere with a wine list, the car spends two days in a field and complicates the Sunday.

Arriving at Soho Farmhouse: A Discreet, Member-Standard Drop-Off
Soho Farmhouse is a private members club, and the arrival experience matters as much as the journey. Our chauffeurs know the property: the approach down the single-lane road through Great Tew estate, the security gate at the entrance, and the gravel driveway that curves up to The Main Barn.
We coordinate with the Soho Farmhouse front-of-house team in advance. We drive into the estate and drop you at reception. From there, the Soho Farmhouse team will take your luggage on to your accommodation. We hold the appropriate insurance to enter the estate grounds.
For longer stays we offer end-of-stay collection on the date and time you specify, plus on-call collection if your plans change. Many of our regulars use the same chauffeur for both arrival and return, which means consistency on luggage, route preferences, and any quiet-cabin requests on the way back when you might be tired.

Make a Weekend of It: Cotswolds Venues to Pair With Your Soho Farmhouse Stay
Soho Farmhouse is the centrepiece of a remarkable corner of the Cotswolds, and many of our clients combine their visit with one or two nearby destinations. We can build a full multi-stop itinerary where your chauffeur stays with you, the vehicle waits, and you skip the car-park hunt at every venue.
Daylesford Organic

Burford
15 minutes. The prettiest of the Cotswold villages for an afternoon walk.
Chipping Norton

Hotels Near Soho Farmhouse
Cabins book out months ahead, and members bringing guests often need somewhere within a short drive. The Wild Rabbit at Kingham and The Kingham Plough are both about ten miles out. Estelle Manor at Eynsham is about sixteen miles, a members club in its own right, though it has a different feel entirely. The Bull at Charlbury is handy if you have come by train, and Burford and Woodstock sit twenty minutes either side.
If your party is split across two of these, we can run one car between them across the weekend rather than three separate bookings.

Soho Farmhouse is in Great Tew, on the edge of Chipping Norton in north Oxfordshire. The postcode for satnav is OX7 4JS. The property sits within the wider Great Tew estate, accessed by a single-lane country road that signposts only as you arrive at the security gate. The closest train station is Charlbury, around 8 miles away. The closest major airports are Heathrow and Birmingham.
Yes. Our chauffeurs are familiar with the approach, the security gate procedure, and the internal estate roads. We hold the appropriate insurance to drive on the private grounds. We drive into the estate and drop you at reception. From there, the Soho Farmhouse team will take your luggage on to your accommodation.
Yes. Wait-and-return is one of our standard service options. For a Soho Farmhouse spa visit, a Diddly Squat queue, or a Daylesford lunch, your chauffeur stays with the car and is ready when you are. We charge a transparent hourly wait rate. Confirm the wait window when you book and we will plan the chauffeur day around it.
Yes, multi-stop days are common in this part of the Cotswolds. The most popular combinations are Soho Farmhouse with Bicester Village (16 miles), Daylesford Organic (12 miles), Diddly Squat Farm Shop (5 miles), or Blenheim Palace (14 miles). We build the route, the chauffeur waits at each stop, and you avoid car-park hassle at every venue. Tell us your priorities when you book and we will sequence the day to keep you ahead of the crowds.
The closest station is Charlbury, about 8 miles away, with Kingham about 9. Both are direct from London Paddington on the Great Western Cotswold Line, a little over an hour to Charlbury on the fastest trains. There is no bus from either station, so arrange the last few miles before you travel.
Take the train to Charlbury or Kingham, then arrange a car for the final eight or nine miles. That last leg is the whole problem: no bus serves the estate, and the local taxis are limited, especially just after a London train arrives. Sort the connection before you travel rather than hoping one is free when you step off.
About eight miles, roughly fifteen minutes by road, and there is no bus. A local taxi is the usual way to cover it, but arrange it in advance, because the rank at Charlbury is busy right after a London train and does not always have a car free.
